#3 BERNINA Buttonhole Sewing Machine Foot

Buttonhole Foot #3 is ideally suited to sewing buttonholes, as well as gathering with cord or elastic (smocking). Thanks to its practical grooves, Buttonhole Foot #3 is able to glide smoothly over the thread beads of the buttonhole, enabling particularly easy and precise sewing.

  • Sewing buttonholes of different lengths
  • Gathering using thread or elastic thread (smocking)
  • With or without cording
  • For 5.5 mm and 9 mm machines

The upper thread can be conveniently pulled to the back through the slot in Buttonhole Foot #3 before you begin sewing. In this way, attractive buttonholes with and without cording can easily be sewn in the desired length.

Buttonholes

This foot takes the frustration out of making buttonholes. Use this foot to make the tiniest of buttonholes or stitch one as long as needed, even one large enough for a pocket opening.

Corded Buttonholes

Buttonholes stitched over cord offer an option for very heavy fabrics as well as a way to add stability to buttonholes on knit fabrics. High points of wear and stress, such as jeans, can also benefit from a corded buttonhole.

Gathering Over Cord

A good method for gathering heavier fabrics, such as denim or corduroy, the cord is looped at one end and will not come out as the ends are pulled.

Fine Edge Finish

Used as a finish for a single thickness of light to medium-weight fabric, this works well on ruffles, hems, pockets, and table or bed linens.

Roll and Whip Stitch

Seam delicate fabrics and lace.

Elastic Shirring

Create a shirred look to fabrics by stitching rows of the universal stitch, which works well on light to medium-weight fabrics, and is a good application for bodices, cuffs, and waistline areas.

Wired Edges

Give the edges of ruffles and bows body and substance so they will be crisp and can be formed to stand up.

Double Couching

Embellish the surface of fabric with a double row of decorative cord.
